Khayal.

“Khayal”comes from Parsi language which means” Vichaar”or thinking.Sultaan of Jaunpur Husain Sharki of 15th century started this form of singing.There were two famous singers in the court of Mughal emperor Sadarang and Adarang ,they have made thousands of Khayal songs.Khayal singing has two types Bada Khayal and Chota Khayal.”Bada Khayal”is sung in slow tempo while “Chota Khayal”is sung in fast tempo.Khayal is sung in Fast Teentaal,Dhrut Ektaal,and Jhaaptaal.Khayal is modal,with single melodic line and no harmonic parts.
