Tappa

Tappa is a form of Indian semi-classical vocal music.Ghulam Nabi Shori,a famous singer is known to have made Tappa popular.He was settled in punjab,hence he made different Tappa’s in this language.In Tappa, there is less use of words,but in every word there is a eries of “Taan”(variation).The Taana’s are sung so beautifully that it sometimes makes the listener astonished.Tappa singer should have a light throat with lots of practice in order to make Tappa beautiful and decorative.Tappa is mostly sung in Shudh Raagas.Tappa singing generally has a unique theka (beat)on tabla,which is very similar to teentaal.Tappa is also sung in Brij Bhasha and bengali language.
